If you have forgotten the enable password to a Cisco 1800 series router you will need to recover it. This document discusses how to do that.
Requirements
Physical access to the router
A PC with a Serial Port
A Cisco rollover / console cable (the blue type)
A copy of Hyper-terminal or Putty. Hyper-terminal comes with windows and putty is a free download. For this article I will use putty.
Step 1.
Plug the Cisco console cable from your PC's serial port to the console port of the Cisco 1800.

Introduction
The Cisco 837 ADSL / Broadband router like most Cisco routers can have it's software( firmware ) upgraded. Generally this isn't a difficult process but it is a bit fiddly if you haven't done it before. This guide will walk you through this process.
Requirements
Cisco 837 router and Cisco console cable
Fairly obvious really, this is the router you wish to upgrade and the cisco serial cable used to configure the router.

Summary: A guide to setting up a Cisco 837 ADSL router to work with a ADSL Broadband service over a BT line. Examples of broadband services where this works are BT Broadband , Eclipse Broadband or NewNet Broadband and most ADSL over BT lines. Be careful when choosing your router that you ensure you get an ADSL router (PPPoA) if you have a BT phoneline style broadband or make sure you get a DSL router (PPPoE) if you have the NTL ethernet type.
